Yes, you read that correctly — American Student Assistance (ASA) has made the decision to become Britebound™, a name we believe better reflects our mission to help young people find their why and find their way through career readiness learning. This transition was officially announced January 12, 2026 and includes not only a new name but a new logo and brand identity as well.
You may be wondering about what else has changed. The short answer is not much, but keep reading for the long answer!
Why the New Name?
We believe that our previous name, while well-suited for our original goal of helping students access traditional higher education, does not reflect our evolution to a national nonprofit focused on helping teens find postsecondary success.
Our new name, Britebound, better indicates our current mission to help young people find the right path for them, whatever that may be. “Brite” reflects optimism and untapped potential and “bound” is evocative of forward movement and determination. Together, these words reflect our commitment to providing learners with the tools and resources needed to pave their way to a fulfilling career.
Has Our Mission Changed?
The great news is that our mission hasn’t changed! In fact, our rebrand better reflects our organization’s work helping young people make confident, informed decisions about their futures.
Britebound will continue to support young people for the entirety of their career journey: exploration, experimentation, and navigation. We also remain committed to the educators, families, communities, employers, organizations, and other trusted adults who are supporting learners as they discover future pathways and possibilities.
What’s On the Horizon for Britebound?
We’re in the midst of our public-facing rollout of our new brand, which will begin on national media, digital platforms, streaming channels, transit systems, and social networks. Keep an eye out!
Our transformation from American Student Assistance to Britebound is not an end in itself, but instead an opportunity to ensure that our organization reflects our mission in all aspects. A fresh name and logo is just what we need to reinforce our commitment to creating even brighter futures for students.
